I'm trying to get back into the "routine" after the holidays, getting back to my regular weekly activities . . . which will soon once again include going to the high school basketball games (one of the girls from youth group is a cheerleader this year)!  Last night was my first game of the season and it was a sweet (and much-needed) reminder of why I am here and what this ministry is all about.  I saw many familiar faces, ran into several kids from camp, and had some good conversation with a couple of people who I hadn't seen for quite awhile, but who have been on mind a lot lately.  It was a huge encouragement to see them and hear some of what has been on their hearts, although there is so much hurt.  It seems that there are so many people dealing with the death and loss of someone close to them and that came up in more than one conversation last night.  There were 5 funerals in December alone and 2 more young men passed away this week (one was another suicide) . . . so many people are left hurting and hopeless.  Sometimes it's hard to even know how to pray in these situations, but please continue to bring these dear ones before the Lord!  Ask the Lord to heal, comfort, and restore with His truth.  Pray especially for those who are struggling with the loss of a loved one, that the Lord would remind each of them of His truth, His hope, His peace, and His power.
