I had another surreal moment during recess today, standing back and taking it all in with overwhelming thankfulness in my heart . . .
Due to some North Dakota winter weather, we had recess in the gym today. After jumping rope with some of the 5th grade girls, I stood back and watched the kindergarten girls “help” the teddy bear jump rope. They were all smiles and giggles. Behind them was one of the first-grade boys who has had a very difficult time this year with reading. He is an ADHD child and his teacher told me that it is almost impossible to get him to concentrate. However, there he sat. Alone. Reading. He had brought a book from home and was so proud as he read to me, “Love…the…Lord…your…God…with all…your………hea….”.
“…..heart,” I said, as he read from his Learn-to-Read Bible.
While his classmates were shooting baskets and playing ball tag and jumping rope, he sat and read. As I listened to his little voice reading those words in that noisy gym, I was struck by the truth and power that was being spoken by this child. I invite you to pray with me that the truth of God’s love would sink into this boy’s heart, that he would come to trust Christ as his Savior, and that he would live a life devoted to Him.
I continue to be amazed at how He works…
